First Photoshoot with BWS (Bangalore Weekend Shoot) group

First of all thanks to BWS and Tabebuia for showing me the sunrise after a gap of around 8 months…that too a sunrise in Pink.

This was my first outing with BWS. I was too excited the day before itself. I charged my batteries, filled petrol in my bike and set alarm in my mobile for 5:45 am.

Sunday morning, and woke up in the first alarm bell itself, without snoozing …..:). Quickly dressed up and drove to Cubbon park. Reached Cubbon Park at around 6.20 and looked around for people with cameras. BWS members started coming and I was thrilled to meet all of them. After quick handshakes and brief introductions, we all went near the first tree in sight and started shooting.

Top

We had to beat the cold and the dogs alike. Some street dogs and 3 Golden Retrievers were barking at us. Anand showed all BWS members that tripod can also be used to fight dogs.

Photographer

All of us waited for the sun to rise, also clicking some snaps. I was thrilled and everything in Cubbon park looked nice through my lens. Sun come out and started giving us enough rays and shadows. All of us were busy setting up the tripods and mono pods, fixing the angles, changing lenses and shooting.

Tree

We moved around various trees and shot whatever we could until the Sun started playing with us. Sun went inside dark clouds. It was bit dark. We all stopped shooting and started talking to each other. It was fun checking different types of cameras, accessories and big lenses.

Sun came back again and we all resumed our work. Some people had taken enough shots, said bye and left to shoot Vidhana Soudha. I stayed there with Murali and my other friends for some more time. Took some more shots.

Boy

I stayed there till 10.45. I said bye to Murali when I heard the last and final HUNGRY call from my stomach. Murali was still trying to get some more nice shots with his tripod and 400mm lens. He told me that he would come back in the evening to take some more snaps with people around.

I could not wait to reach home and see my shots in my laptop. I was happy when I saw some of my snaps…they were better than I expected…Thank you BWS, I see some improvement in my photography.

Are you Crazy?

Rajesh is not getting sleep, He has been trying to sleep for last 1 hour. He took his mobile and saw that it was 11 pm. He got up and switched on the light, went to kitchen. Opened the fridge and took a bottle of water. He went to the drawing room, sat on the sofa, switched on the laptop and opened the PPT that he has been reading and modifying for the last few days.

Rajesh is a Project Leader in Indigo Technologies, one of the leading computer software exporters in Bangalore. He has a good and stable job with an extremely good salary. He owns a car and plans to buy a flat in a premier locality in Bangalore. He is single and planning to get married by next year.

He is in dilemma these days. He has been thinking in completely different angle for some time now. He is planning to start a small software development firm of his own. Yes.he wants to be an entrepreneur. He has already prepared a business plan. He has discussed his plans with his friends and well wishers. He needs to arrange a small capital, resign from his present organization and start chasing his dream.

He shutdown his laptop and got up, went and stood near the window and looked at the full moon outside and drank little water. He felt excited and thrilled about his future plans.

Stating the company, preparing the business strategy, building a professional team, getting funding, developing products and selling it internationally, generating more jobs, becoming rich and famous, listing the company in Stock Exchanges…..all flashed in his mind in a second.

He thought that he should share his dreams, plans, thrill and excitement with his father who has been his mentor and adviser always. He took his mobile and called him.

“Hi Dad”, Rajesh said.
“Hi Son”, Father replied. “Why not sleeping?”
“No Dad, I want to tell you something.”
“Yes tell me Da.” Father replied.
“I am planning to resign from Indigo and going to start a small startup company. I have the business plan ready and just need to arrange some capital and start the company.” Rajesh told without hiding his excitement.

The other side of the phone was silent for some time.

Rajesh said, “Dad, you there?.”
Father said: “Are you crazy?, are you crazy to resign a good stable job with good salary and take such a huge risk?. Entrepreneurship is good for people who are rich, and have no personal responsibilities. Have you gone crazy?, I am now retired, your mother is at home, you have not yet have a house of your own. How you can pay the EMI if you buy a flat. Who will clear the personal loan that you have taken for me. You need to get married soon and who will give his girl to a guy without a proper job.?.

Son, starting a company and developing is a good idea, but not good for us at present, you need to concentrate on your career now, if you feel you need more income, change the job.”

Rajesh got disappointed hearing this . He tried to explain: “No Dad, I have a good business plan, which I have been preparing for last few months. I am very much confident that it will work out and I have been dreaming about entrepreneurship for long time now.”

“I am going to start the company to succeed, so don’t worry about the financial situation, it is only going to be better”. Rajesh tried to explain.

“Business is good if it clicks, what happens if it does not work out?. No Son, it is not going to work out for now, considering our financial condition and environment. Let us see it after a few years, you are still young and you have lot left in your life.”

“But this business plan may not work after some years. This is the right time to start it and moreover entrepreneurship helps generate lot of direct and indirect jobs, I am going to give tax to the government, I am going to contribute to the growth of the nation. I myself will be financially stable.”

“No da, as I told you, it is a great idea if everything is settled. Now you go and sleep well. You need to go to office tomorrow right?, even I am going to sleep. Good night Son,”

“Good night….” said Rajesh in a disappointed tone.

“The biggest challenge of an Indian entrepreneur is social pressure,” Rajesh said to himself.
He hung up the phone and went to sleep. But he knew deep inside his heart that he had started it.

Nishanth reached TT Semi

Nishanth has done it for us. He has reached the Semi finals of the Sasken Jamboree Table Tennis tournament after winning a thrilling quarter final match yesterday. He is the only one from Nortel EN group to reach this far. He will play the semifinal on Wednesday.

The quarter final match position was 3-3. The match lead to the final game. It's now or never for Nish. It was tight, the opponent was a good fighter, he was not going to give it easily. It was getting tougher, couple of mistakes would have been the end of the road. But Nish's face told me "Hey come on, I have not finished, just started it, and I need that proud Sasken T- Shirt after winning this". I trusted him with my fingers crossed.

He took his best game out when it really mattered. His favorite serves did not let him down. His smashes were darting towards the opponent like the arrows from Karna's bow. Even Shane warne would have been proud of his spin. Yes, he was at his best. "Take it mate", the final smash from Nish had his signature on it. Yes. He has won it. He has made us proud.

As he is preparing for the big semifinal on Wednesday, I wish him all the best and just tell him that "I am with you and my prayers are with you".

Destiny

I am in my office, trying to fix a bug in my project. I have been going through the code to find the cause for the bug. But found an interesting thing; this code was written on 08-12-1997 by one Mr. Paul Martin. Exactly 9 years ago. I checked my PC calendar and found that 8th Dec 97 was a Monday.

I was a college student in 1997 and I would have finished my semester exams by 8th Dec. I would have been at home when he was writing this code. I do not know what I was doing when this guy was writing this code. May be I was fighting for TV remote with my brother, or I was having rice and sambar for dinner with my parents or was dreaming about the girl next door or I was sleeping. Whatever it is, I did not know then that somebody who was sitting 1000s of miles away was writing some code for the BCM project, which would introduce a bug after 9 long years and would come to me for a fix in Bangalore. I think this is called destiny.

This bug is destined to reach me and I am destined to fix it.
I think now I believe in destiny.
